How did the project meet the brief?

The finished Devereux Road project beautifully fulfilled the client’s brief, delivering a sleek, minimalist kitchen with a refined sense of balance. The colour scheme feels calm and understated, with just the right touch of drama, thanks to premium materials like textured walnut veneers, ultra-matte Fenix finishes, and the standout Neolith Calacatta Luxe splashback and framing. Every element feels purposeful, contributing to a strong sense of visual harmony. There’s clarity and precision throughout, nothing overstated, nothing underplayed.

Subtle lighting, integrated into the walnut shelf and the slim glazed cabinet, adds to the calm, considered atmosphere. The handleless cabinetry enhances the clean, modern aesthetic, while state-of-the-art appliances ensure the space is both practical and high-performing. The client loves cooking and entertaining here, and the space supports both beautifully.

As with all our kitchens, the project was completed to an exceptional standard, with every detail carefully considered. Our in-house manufacturing gave us the flexibility to make precise adjustments right up to the final stages, ensuring a flawless fit and finish.

The client is thrilled with the result, and kindly allows us to bring prospective customers over to experience a Daulby & Tickle kitchen in action, in a real family home.

Were there any additional considerations on this project not addressed in the brief?

Initially, the design was specified as fully handleless, with a rail system for all base cabinets and push-to-open tall cabinets, including electric-assisted openers for larger appliances. However, just before installation, the client shared 2 of 7 inspiration images featuring unique handles used by a French design studio. We couldn’t source the exact handles, so we decided to design our own version with a similar aesthetic.

Working with our network of local specialists, we had our design precision-milled from solid brass, then hand-patinated in-house to a bronze finish using orthophosphoric acid. The result was a beautifully smooth, seamless handle—no joints or fixings, just a solid, sculptural feel. At around £600 each, they not only looked and felt premium but truly elevated the overall kitchen scheme.

This became a standout feature—both visually and functionally—and a great example of our commitment to ingenuity and delivering exactly what the client wanted, finished to the highest possible standard.

The handles are a common request now among new enquiries and we have incorporated them into concept designs for future projects.

Did this project aim to address sustainability?

Sustainability wasn’t a primary focus in the client brief, but it’s something we naturally build into all of our kitchens. From using Fenix and Egger materials with strong sustainability credentials, to Blum fittings, Dekton and Neolith surfaces, and energy-efficient appliances from Siemens and Quooker, every element was chosen with durability and longevity in mind. We also source sustainably wherever possible, right down to our walnut veneers, and deliver using electric vehicles. Ultimately, we intend for our kitchens to be lifetime products. So while it wasn’t the goal, sustainability was very much achieved.
